Following Hurricane Ian, the longtime Venice gathering place returns with waterfront dining, live music and renewed spaces for the community to enjoy.

VENICE, Fla., Nov. 6, 2026 — After years away, a familiar gathering place on the Myakka River is welcoming visitors back. Snook Haven Fish Camp opens Friday, November 6, restoring a cherished Venice tradition of riverside meals, live music and time spent together in the easygoing setting that has drawn generations of Southwest Floridians.

Located in Snook Haven Regional Park, the restaurant is operated by SSA Group in partnership with Sarasota County. Its reopening is part of the county’s $8.75 million revitalization of the destination following extensive damage from Hurricane Ian in 2022.

With roots dating to 1958, Snook Haven has long been known for its rustic setting, fishing heritage and performances along the river. The renewed park includes a new restaurant facility, accessible riverfront pavilion, bandshell and performance patio, and rebuilt fishing pier, giving residents and visitors more ways to enjoy this distinctive stretch of the Myakka River.

“Snook Haven holds a special place in this community. Families have been coming here for generations, and those memories are what make its return so meaningful,” said Sam Burr, Regional Vice President of SSA Group. “We’re proud to work alongside Sarasota County to welcome people back with great food, genuine hospitality and the familiar spirit of Snook Haven.”

## Florida Flavors and a Return to Live Music

Snook Haven Fish Camp’s casual menu draws on Florida favorites, including smoked fish dip, gator bites, peel-and-eat Gulf shrimp and Fish Dawgs, featuring fresh catch on a potato bun. For dessert, guests can try chocolate-dipped Key lime pie on a stick. Cold beer, frozen drinks and sweet tea round out the offerings.

Live music will return to the new bandshell, continuing one of the destination’s most recognizable traditions. From lunch overlooking the river to an afternoon with friends and music, the renewed Snook Haven is designed to feel familiar while making room for new memories.
